This year our class is taking on the challenge of trying to solve some of the issues that have plagued our globe over the past twenty years. This page is designed to record our journey along the way as well as serve as a dumping ground for any information that we may come across as we begin and continue to research a possible solution.

Global Issue #1: Deforestation

Solving the Issues of the World…One Friday at a Time

Group Names: Kinnera & Royce

Global Issue #1: Deforestation

Background of Issue: (who?, what?, where?, when?, why?)

Who: Brazil has the highest deforstation rate in the world since 1970 over 600,000 sq. kilo. of the Amazon has been destroyed in 2005 the Amazon was only at 85% of the forest was left by around

What: Deforestation is happening all around the world because people cut down trees to make things, mostly in Brazil, the Amazon, and South America Deforstation some times happens to plant crops or grazing livestock also to feed famalies

When: Deforestation first began during the Industrial Revolution in 1925 (because many people wanted to live in wooden areas so they could build wooden cabins as houses)

Where: Deforestation occurs in many countries, but the main countries are Brazil, Sri Lanka, and Costa Rica (South America) only 12% of the Atlantic forest remains

Costs: human and/or financial cost?

It tears down the animals chilling place.

Less resources

Reduces oxygen supply

it brings lots of money in for the wood industry because wood is high in demand

Previous Efforts Put Into Place to Help Resolve Issue:

Tried replanting trees

Tried to cut down on cutting down trees

a limit of how many trees you can cut down

Reasons why previous efforts to help resolve issue have failed:

Not many people gave an effort

there has been no replacement for wood so we still need it to function

Areas of concern on reaching your desired solution to the global issue:

Rainforest

South America

Africa

Brazil

YOUR PLAN OF ACTION! (for this section, you will need to provide the most detail as you lay a step-by-step plan on how your group will go about tackling this issue. It is important that you take a look at all the information you have researched and studied and use that information to develop a true, realistic and effective plan of action. The plan needs to include funding, people involved, time length of project, materials needed, etc…)

1. MAKE IMOVIE

2. interview teacher

3. Finish project
